13 industries out of 21 classification based on the Korea Standard Industrial Classification (10th amendment, Jul. 1, 2017)
- Water supply; sewage, waste management, materials recovery (E), Wholesale and retail trade (G), Transportation and storage (H), Accommodation and food service activities (I), Information and communication (J), Financial and Insurance Activities (K), Real estate activities (L), Professional, Scientific and Technical Activities (M), Business facilities management and business support services; rental and leasing activities (N), Education (P), Human health and social work activities (Q), Arts, sports and recreation related services (R), Membership organizations, repair and other personal services (S)

Survey reference period: 1st day to the last day of a month, Reference date: the last day of a month

Jan. 1999: Carried out a pilot survey (survey on the status of service industry )
Feb. 2000: Carried out the first survey
March 2004: Redesigned the base year (2000 = 100)
March 2008: Redesigned the base year (2005 = 100)
Nov. 2008: Changed the survey title (Service industry survey)
Feb. 2013: Redesigned the base year (2010 = 100)
Feb. 2018: Redesigned the base year (2015 = 100)

Monthly working days, the number of employees at the end of a month
Monthly sales performance, remark (reason of sales increase/decrease, characteristics of an establishment), etc.
