Survey unit: Enterprise
Survey size: Around 10,000 transportation enterprises selected for a complete survey or a sample survey

1977: Began annual surveys and collected data on Land and Water transport businesses
1978: No. of sub-industries expanded to 3 with Air transport business added
1979: No. of sub-industries expanded to 4 with 'Support Activities for Transportation' added
1990: For survey, owner-driven taxi, owner-delivery van, owner-delivery truck business classified as a single company
2000: Published Report on the Transport Survey after transfer of the 'Communication' industry to the Ministry of Information and Communications
2004: Introduced the Internet (email) survey method
2015: 6 types of questionnaires classified by transport industries were integrated to a single questionnaire.
2016: The industrial classification changed from 6-digit to 5-digit classification. The number of transport industries reduced from 46 to 40.
2017: Changed into the interviewing method for 'Inter-city bus transport', 'Intra-city bus transport', 'Chartered bus transport' and 'Taxi transport'
2018: The 2017 Logistics Industry Statistics was first published. The survey results of the transportation industry survey were re-aggregated in 26 industries.
2019 : Other urban and suburban passengerland transport and Other non-scheduled passenger land transport was newly added, Operation of airport and Other service activities incidental to air transportation were separated from service activities incidental to air transportation.
2020 : Leasing of motor vehicles related to logistics in Logistics Services was newly added

Enterprise → Associations by city and province → Regional Offices of Statistics and District Offices of Statistics → KOSTAT

Establish survey plan → select items and design questionnaire → build sample and prepare sampling frame → employ and train surveyors → conduct survey → complete the questionnaire and preliminary inspection → comprehensive inspection and level analysis → announce the results and publish report
