• To provide basic data needed when establishing franchise-related policies by grasping the structure, distribution and management status of franchise establishments

• All franchise establishments that are operated as of the reference date
• Excluding establishments in the "Education (P)" industry, establishments within military bases and call taxis

• Target population size: About 210 thousand franchise establishments

• Reference period: Jan. 1 ~ Dec. 31
• Reference date: Dec. 31

History

• 2013: Carried out the Franchise Survey for the first time (included in the Service Industry Survey)
• 2016: The survey on all franchise establishments was carried out by including survey items of the franchise industry in the Economic Census.
• 2019: The Franchise Survey was approved as a national statistic and carried out as a complete survey.
• 2020~: The Franchise Survey changed from a complete survey to a sample survey.
