Target Population

  • As of the reference date, all Korean and foreign residents residing within Korean territory and their residences (including empty houses)
  • Coverage: The nation

  • Reference period: Nov. 1 of the year ~ May 31 of the following year

  • Oct. 1, 1925: Simple National Census
    • The first Population Census

    • Economic activities of occupation, etc. included for the first time

    • As for the sample(20%) enumeration, full introduction of electronic survey(pc,mobile, telephone) and face-to-face interview(using tablet pc) are carried out.

Survey item

  • Complete survey (a total of 16 items as of 2020)
    • Population (8 items): Name, gender, relationship to head of household, nationality, immigration year and month, residence before 1 year, year of nationality acquisition
    • Household (2 item): Household type, housing facilaties type
    • Housing (6 items): Type of living quarters, total floor area for residence, site area, construction year, number of rooms, number of housing facilaties
  • Sampling survey (a total of 45 items as of 2020)
    • Population (31 items): Name, gender, relationship with household head, nationality, immigration year and month, level of education, child care, limitations on activities, location of workplace/shcool, type of economic activity, martial status etc
    • Household (14 item): Household type, reasons for being a single-person household, period of living alone, housing facilaties type, animal companion etc
