Purpose

• To annually monitor the size, changes, structures, and other characteristics of production by economic activity, expenditures by type, and incomes by institutional sector for 17 metropolitan cities and provinces, thereby providing basic evidences for the formation and evaluation of policies suited for regional circumstances

History

• 1983: Formation of plans and collection of basic data for the GRDP (Gross Regional Domestic Product) estimation
• 1984: Trial calculation of the GRDP estimates in Chungcheongnam-do and Chungcheongbuk-do (1981 and 1982)
• 1988: Production of the GRDP estimates by province
• 1989: A statistical production approval granted (No. 10128)
• 1993: The first publication of the production accounts of the GRDP for metropolitan cities and provinces (1985 through 1991)
• 1994: Change of a base year to 1990
• 1999: Change of a base year to 1995
• 2000: Change of a release schedule (provisional: at the end of the following year, final: in August two years later)
• 2001: Release of expenditures accounts (1995 through 1999)
• 2004: Change of a base year to 2000
• 2005: Subdivisions under the manufacturing sector reorganized into Primary Material Industry, Processing and Assembly Industry, and Living & Other Industry.
• 2009: Change of a base year to 2005 for the production and expenditure accounts
• 2014: Implementation of the 2008 SNA and the change of a base year to 2010
• 2019: Change of a base year to 2015
